Bill 55: The Medical Profession Amendment Act, 2026

This bill primarily affects anyone operating in or adjacent to healthcare in Saskatchewan — including physicians, podiatric surgeons, physician assistants, and professional corporations that deliver medical services. If you run a clinic, health practice, or professional corporation providing medical services, you now face much steeper fines if you or your staff practice without proper registration or licensing: up to $25,000 for a first offence as an individual and $100,000 for a repeat corporate offence. Officers and directors of corporations can be personally fined even if the company itself isn't prosecuted. Solo practitioners and small clinic operators will want to ensure their licences and permits are current, as the College can now go directly to court for injunctions or to force disclosure of records without giving prior notice.
