QC-792: Bill 792: An Act to enhance the presence of the flag of Québec

The most directly affected parties are property owners and managers of buildings occupied by federal government institutions, national historic sites, national parks, and municipal parks operating anywhere in Quebec — they will now be legally required to fly the Quebec flag on their premises. Organizations that display multiple flags (such as hotels, convention centres, corporate campuses, or event venues) will need to adjust how they position flags to comply with the new left-of-observer or centre placement rules. Building owners who lease space to Members of Parliament or Members of the National Assembly will also need to ensure a Quebec flag is flown, even if the elected official only occupies part of the building. Businesses that maintain Quebec flags on their premises will need to follow new destruction protocols — burning natural-fibre flags or cutting and disposing of synthetic ones in an environmentally responsible way — and could face inspections by government-authorized inspectors.
