Bill 67: Commercial and Household Greenhouses Act

Commercial greenhouse operators in Nova Scotia are the primary business beneficiaries — whether they're building a new growing facility or looking to switch from conventional heating to geothermal or wood chip systems, they could receive significant financial relief including property tax rebates for up to 20 years (subject to municipal agreement) or up to 50% back on conversion costs. For small-scale or family-run greenhouse growers, this could meaningfully reduce the overhead of expanding year-round local food production. On the household side, this is aimed at individual Nova Scotians rather than businesses, helping families offset the upfront cost of setting up a backyard or home greenhouse for personal food growing. Municipalities will also be drawn into the program as partners, since the property tax rebate component requires their agreement.
