Bill 45: The Co-operatives Consequential Amendments Act, 2025

This bill primarily affects co-operatives of all kinds operating in Saskatchewan — including agricultural co-ops, housing co-operatives, health care co-operatives, and community clinics — as well as credit unions and labour-sponsored venture capital corporations. Businesses incorporated or registered under the old Co-operatives Act, 1996 will now be governed by the new 2025 legislation, which may affect how they report to regulators, how their shares and member records are maintained, and how they interact with other provincial bodies like the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority. Companies incorporated under the Business Corporations Act, 2021 will also see minor updates to how they maintain their registers of individuals with significant control, including new rules around electronic signatures and updated citizenship information requirements.
