Bill 303: Strengthening the Innovation Economy Act

Nova Scotia businesses — particularly small and medium-sized companies in tech, life sciences, clean energy, and other innovation-driven sectors — stand to benefit most directly. The Bank will give local businesses a meaningful first opportunity to license or commercialize IP developed through publicly funded research, potentially reducing costs and barriers to bringing new products or processes to market. Startups and entrepreneurs working with university or government-backed research will have a single office to navigate IP identification, protection, and commercialization support. Businesses of all sizes that hold their own IP can also access assistance in managing and defending it, which is especially valuable for smaller operators who can't easily afford dedicated IP legal resources.
