Bill 41: An Act to Amend the Real Estate Agents’ Licensing Act

This bill affects anyone working in real estate-related trades in the Northwest Territories — including people who inspect homes for buyers, property managers who lease or rent out buildings on behalf of owners, and existing real estate agents and salespersons. If you do home inspections for a fee in the NWT, you'll now need a licence, meet education and training requirements, and use superintendent-approved forms. Property managers who collect rent, handle leases, or maintain buildings for property owners are formally brought under the licensing regime for the first time. All licensed professionals in this space will need to follow any code of conduct the superintendent publishes, and use approved forms — or face potential licence suspension or other disciplinary action.
