However, fleet operators, vehicle rental companies, and employers whose workers drive company vehicles in Manitoba could be affected if an employee uses a work vehicle to commit criminal harassment — the vehicle could be seized and impounded regardless of the owner's intent, though an innocent owner exemption exists if they could not reasonably have known the driver would misuse it. Any Manitoba business that lends, rents, or assigns vehicles to individuals should be aware that company-owned vehicles are not immune from seizure.
