Businesses that operate loyalty or rewards points programs (retailers, grocery chains, airlines, credit card companies) will need to comply with new rules around how they disclose terms, expire or cancel points, and handle consumer complaints about lost points — potentially affecting how they design and manage these programs. Forestry and resource extraction companies operating on Crown land in northern Ontario benefit from a streamlined process allowing forest resource removal under regulation rather than individual permits. Municipalities and the City of Toronto see reduced costs by shifting mandatory financial statement publication from newspapers to their websites, effective January 1, 2026. Owners of X-ray machines (dental offices, clinics, hospitals) must now provide and keep current an email address with the provincial Director. Businesses involved in waste management and recycling in Ontario may be required to provide detailed financial and operational information to the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority on ministerial order.
