AB-021: Bill 21: Interprovincial Trade Mutual Recognition Act

This bill affects a wide range of Alberta businesses — from manufacturers and food producers shipping goods across provincial borders, to tradespeople, contractors, and professional service providers who work in multiple provinces. If you run a small manufacturing or food processing operation in Alberta and already have your products certified in another province, you won't need to go through a separate Alberta approval process. If you're a sole operator or small firm in a skilled trade or service industry — say a welder, engineer, or home inspector licensed in BC or Saskatchewan — you can now work in Alberta using your existing licence without reapplying. Larger companies moving goods interprovincially will also benefit from reduced regulatory friction and fewer fees tied to duplicate testing or approvals.
